Police Closures Reported Near Washington Monument
Police are investigating an incident between Piney Branch Parkway and Tilden Street near Pierce Mill. Beach Drive is closed for the investigation. Traffic was also stopped on Massachusetts Avenue near Embassy Row. Drive traffic has been diverted in the vicinity of Klingel Road. Delays are affecting Northbound I 295, eastbound 695 near the Navy Yard, and southbound DC 295 past East Capitol Street. Traffic is also delayed through the Third Street tunnel toward New York Avenue. The increased police presence is likely related to May Day demonstrations occurring in the area.
