Volunteers Suspect Shelter Staff Dumped 50 Dead Dogs

Approximately 50 dead dogs were found on the roadside of a highway near Komyshlov in late March 2026. Volunteers suspect employees of a local animal shelter may have disposed of the carcasses. The shelter allegedly received municipal contracts for animal control and maintenance by submitting fraudulent reports of completed work. Through these methods, the facility reportedly extracted over 28 million rubles from the budget. Volunteers had previously documented instances of animal cruelty at the shelter. The shelter is currently facing a case involving the alleged embezzlement of over 28 million rubles through fraudulent work reports.
