Poland Calls Israeli Actions Serious Law Violation
A former advisor to PiS President and representatives of a coal supplier face up to 15 years in prison. Central Anticorruption Bureau agents detained the suspects in the Mazovia region. The investigation concerns a Warsaw-based company that purchased low-quality coal for a government strategic reserves agency. The company reportedly lacked proper authorization and bypassed standard procurement procedures. Constitutional reforms in Poland have led to the mandatory retirement of several Supreme Court judges to be replaced by government-aligned individuals. In Hungary, new legislation has been implemented to restrict press pluralism and the rights of non-governmental organizations. These actions are described as impacting judicial independence and the rule of law. The source noted that disciplinary chambers have been created that can sanction judges for their applications of the law.
