Grab Awarded First Cross-Border Ride-Hailing License
Singapore's Land Transport Authority has awarded the first cross-border ride-hailing license to Grab. Authorities stated the long-term goal is to increase the quota to 500 taxis per country. The move facilitates cross-border transport services. The firm will begin operations next week. Grab is currently onboarding licensed cross-border taxis from Grab Cab and other taxi operators. The company has streamlined back-end processes to help drivers manage multi-currency earnings and different regulatory requirements. Singapore's largest taxi operator, ComfortDelGro, stated it welcomes the improvements to the cross-border taxi scheme. ComfortDelGro welcomed the scheme improvements, noting increased passenger flexibility. The new scheme is intended to provide passengers with increased flexibility.
