Berlin Transit Reliability Increases For U-Bahn
The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) reported a turning point regarding the punctuality of its U-Bahn subway services. BVG Chief Falk stated during a presentation that the trend is improving despite previous issues with long waits and driver shortages. The announcement follows period of service thinning and delays for commuters. BVG CEO Falk presented the annual report in Berlin, noting an improved punctuality trend for the U-Bahn system. The BVG reported that public transit services, including subways, buses, and trams, operated with 99% reliability last year. This represents a increase for the U-Bahn service, which had a reliability rate of 93% in 2024. The new BVG chief stated that efforts are underway to address the lack of labor market buffers.
