Guatemalan Authorities Conduct 30 Raids In Migration Operation

The Public Ministry's unit against labor exploitation conducted 10 raids in Zone 7 of Guatemala City. Of these, 5,012 cases involved requests for protection measures, while 1,038 were handled within criminal processes. The actions included 37 family law hearings and 25 unilateral hearings. Most cases addressed violations of the right to protection against personal mistreatment. These measures primarily addressed protection against physical abuse. Additionally, 25 unilateral hearings were conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings. The efforts include addressing child exploitation where children are reportedly offering products on the streets. The report noted movements to contain exploitation in Zone 7. Authorities conducted 30 raids across Guatemala, San Marcos, and Sololá as part of the 'Gota Gota Fase Migración' operation. The raids began early Tuesday and were led by investigators from the Police Information Division and prosecutors from the Public Ministry. Operations targeted residences in Guatemala City and the municipalities of Villanueva, Amatitlán, Misco, and Coatepec. The objective of the operation is to strengthen ongoing investigation processes, according to Oscar Grijalva.
