SMS Bombing Scam Targets Phone Users

Scammers are attacking Russian citizens using SMS bombing techniques involving confirmation codes from dozens of websites. Fraudsters then call concerned recipients posing as security service employees to convince them to transfer money to safe accounts or disclose personal data. The report was provided by TAS Agency. Fraudsters are targeting Russian pensioners by impersonating various government officials to steal savings. Scammers first call victims claiming to be from former workplaces to report pension increases and request SMS codes. They then impersonate FSB investigators warning of fraudulent loan attempts and Central Bank representatives requesting money for verification. Victims are instructed to remain silent during the process, resulting in the permanent loss of their savings. Scammers are targeting Russians by offering non-existent services for cleaning and preparing dacha plots for the season. After the victim transfers money, the scammers disappear. Experts noted that legitimate agencies do not require phone prepayment before starting work.
