Sanya River Mouth Project To Reduce Travel Time

The Sanya River Channel Project in Hainan has entered a critical stage of underwater pipe jacking construction. The project is a key component of the Hainan Free Trade Port construction. The Sanya River project has achieved a key breakthrough with the successful breakthrough of the Huangwu Tunnel in the South Trunk Line of the second phase. Once completed, the project is expected to reduce travel time between the two sides of Sanya Bay from 30 minutes to under 5 minutes. The breakthrough occurred 15 days ahead of the original schedule, according to Xie Jun. The Huangwu Tunnel, a critical section of the South Arterial Road Phase II, has achieved a breakthrough 15 days ahead of schedule. This infrastructure development aims to optimize the spatial development pattern of Sanya by improving east-west and north-south connectivity. Additionally, the south bank features high geological pressure with an intensity of up to 120 megapascals. Construction is progressing on key infrastructure projects in Sanya, including the Sanya River Estuary Channel project. The pipe structure consists of 8 sets of interlocking steel pipes and 4 independent steel pipes, with a span of 18 meters. This approach is intended to minimize interference with waterway traffic and marine ecology. The Huangwu Tunnel spans 69.4 kilometers through the Qinling North Road mountainous area.
