Ebola Strain Less Deadly Than Others, Study Finds
A new strain of Ebola, dubbed the 'Bundy Bug', is circulating in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the second time. This strain has a lower fatality rate compared to others, with approximately 25% mortality versus up to 90% for other strains. This strain has been circulating for weeks, and its dispersion is quite large. While some Ebola strains can be up to 90% lethal, this particular strain's lethality is estimated to be around 20-25%. Researchers are modeling projections with advanced software to better understand its behavior. This finding comes from modeling projections using Rust and Python. This finding could influence treatment strategies and public health responses. A new study indicates that a specific strain of Ebola is less deadly than previously identified strains. Researchers in Kinshasa analyzed the strain's characteristics and transmission patterns.
