California Launches Digital Democracy Program For AI Policy
A new program announced today will provide hundreds of free diapers to some parents of California newborns before they leave the hospital. The initiative involves hospitals that primarily serve low-income patients. The program aims to ease financial strain on families, particularly focusing on low-income families in its first year. Participating hospitals will distribute the diapers, with plans for future expansion. The diapers will be in sizes for newborns and babies up to 14 pounds. Families will receive the special delivery when discharged from a hospital. California is set to become the first state in the nation to provide infants with hundreds of free diapers. The 'Golden State Start' program will provide 400 Baby to Baby diapers to all new parents at no cost. Kelly Sawyer-Patrickoff, co-CEO of Baby to Baby, is partnering with the state on this initiative.
