BBC World Service Harar 4d4d Impact 6
A woman in Ethiopia's Harari regional state gave birth to rare quintuplets, four boys and one girl, after 12 years of trying for a baby. All five children are reported to be in full health and were delivered at the Hiwat Fana specialised hospital. The mother expressed immense joy, stating she had previously been filled with depression and pain. Each baby weighed at least 1.3 kilograms, indicating a good chance of survival. The mother and the babies are currently under medical care. The odds of naturally conceiving quintuplets are approximately one in 55 million.
