Hong Kong Hospital Authority Adds 11 New Drugs To List

Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Lo Chung-mau, stated there are no current plans to tighten Hospital Authority ordinance arrangements regarding fees, despite ongoing communication with the Legislative Council. Public housing units will be allocated to residents of Wong Yan Kwok, Wong Sun Kwok, and Wong Tai Kwok on May 2nd. On May 2, residents of Huangren Kingdom, Huangxin Kingdom, and Huangtai Kingdom will be arranged to move into public housing units. Hong Kong is optimizing its medical fee waiver mechanism, which is expected to greatly increase beneficiaries and strengthen protection for poor, urgent, severe, and weak patients. Public housing units are allocated to Huang Renguo, Huang Xinguo, and Huang Taiguo residents on May 2, to Huang Jianguo and Huang Xiangguo residents from May 24-26, and to Huang Daoguo and Huang Chengguo residents from May 27-29. The reform to optimize the medical fee waiver mechanism, which includes a 1000 yuan annual fee cap and aims to benefit more patients, is set to be implemented on January 1, 2026. Poon Yat-hung, General Manager of the Hospital Authority, stated that no patient would be denied proper medical treatment due to economic reasons. The Hospital Authority's General Manager, Pan Yihong, stated that no patient will be denied appropriate treatment due to financial reasons. Hong Kong's Hospital Authority is reviewing clinical data and cost-effectiveness to consider including more specialized drugs. The Hospital Authority recently added 11 new drugs to its drug list, with some receiving high subsidies. During the recent holiday, Hong Kong recorded approximately 1.19 million property management travelers, an 8% increase year-on-year.
