Serious progress is being made on a hospital renovation project in Ishinomaki, aimed at improving the medical environment for inpatients. Ecological protection is a key focus, with engineers devising methods to mitigate impacts on wildlife in areas like the Madao hub. The Pinglu Canal, designed to handle 5,000-ton vessels, features a 65-meter water level difference between its start and end points, equivalent to a 22-story building. Engineers faced challenges including water flow impact, load-bearing, and seismic pressure, with one underground reservoir holding 145,000 tons of water. The main structures of the hubs are largely complete, and a smart inspection system has been implemented to enhance efficiency, reduce manual costs, and mitigate safety risks, replacing the need for workers to climb high slopes.

The main engineering work for the Pinglu Canal's ship lock bodies has largely concluded, with flushing and water adjustment processes completed. A digital awakening system has been implemented for "flat control" of construction, seamless integration, consistent quality and safety, site monitoring, and emergency command, with an intelligent inspection system noted for high efficiency and reduced labor costs and safety risks.
