Thai Health Department Tracks Hanta Virus
The World Health Organization is attempting to locate over 80 passengers who shared a flight with a 69-year-old Dutch woman infected with hantavirus. Celine Gaudre. Argentine researchers suggest a couple from the Netherlands may have been the source of infection after engaging in bird watching. Several seriously ill passengers from the ship Condius have been transported to the Netherlands for treatment. A ship's doctor was among those evacuated and was reported to be in serious condition before showing improvement. Patients on a ship in Brazil are being evaluated for potential Hantavirus cases, with a long incubation period meaning symptoms could appear later. Brazil has recorded 2,000 Hantavirus cases in the last 20 years. Passengers will undergo monitoring and contact tracing after disembarking from the ship starting Sunday.
