Hantavirus Deaths Reported On Saint Helena
Authorities on Saint Helena in the South Atlantic have launched a contact investigation following the deaths of two Dutch nationals. The deceased individuals had reportedly been ashore from a cruise ship. Several people on the island have been advised to enter isolation as a precaution. Three passengers have died following hantavirus infections, according to reports from Ukrainian Radio UR-1. The first victim, a man from the Netherlands, died on Saint Helena after experiencing fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. His wife, also from the Netherlands, died in a hospital in South Africa after being evacuated from the island. A third passenger from the same liner is currently receiving medical treatment in critical condition.
