Low Flu Vaccination Rates Among French Hospital Staff
Healthcare workers in France are facing increased rates of nosocomial infections, which are contracted within hospital settings. Professor of virology Christine Roussieux stated that contamination cases are rising in hospitals and nursing homes (EHPAD). Vaccination coverage for influenza among healthcare staff has declined since the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 20% of healthcare workers received the flu injection last winter, according to the report. Contamination cases are increasing specifically within hospitals and elderly care facilities (EHPAD). The issue has been escalated to the Minister of Research's office. Officials are seeking answers regarding the causes and are hoping for corrective measures. A delegation is scheduled to meet with the Minister's cabinet today. This low rate applies to staff who are in direct contact with vulnerable patients.
