Cruise Ship Outbreak Kills Two
An avirus epidemic has broken out aboard the MV Ondius. The incident occurred while traveling toward Cape Verde. Authorities are checking if recent fatalities are also attributable to hantaviruses, following observations by the World Health Organization. Three of the sick passengers have been admitted to the ship's infirmary. South Africa's health ministry confirmed a severe acute respiratory illness outbreak on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in two deaths. The 'Red Lion Star' cruise ship, traveling from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Fortaleza, experienced the outbreak. An elderly couple died, and another passenger is in intensive care in Johannesburg. Another passenger is receiving intensive care treatment in Johannesburg. The deceased were an elderly couple aboard the MS Insignia, which was traveling from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Fort Lauderdale.
