Defibrillator Database Project Launched In Germany

Notarzt Andreas Azzeni initiated a project in cooperation with the Ostern district to create a database of defibrillators. The exact number of defibrillators is unknown due to a lack of mandatory reporting, with only around 300 currently known to the Osnabrück rescue control center. The initiative aims to increase the number of known devices by verifying their presence before adding them to a database accessible by the rescue control center. An emergency doctor in Osnabrück reports that only approximately 300 defibrillators are currently known to be in the area, though the actual number is suspected to be much higher. Once verified, the devices will be entered into a database for emergency dispatchers to access. This database will allow dispatchers to direct callers to the nearest device during a cardiac arrest, whether for school classes, sports groups, or individuals. The Defi-League is launching an initiative in cooperation with the Osnabrück district to verify and register these devices. Verified locations will be added to a database for emergency dispatch centers to access during cardiac arrests.
