HIV Infection Risks Projected To Rise In Africa
Data from 2024 shows Jakarta reached 37,581 HIV or AIDS cases. The increase is linked to cycles of transmission within low-immunity communities. Due to initial lack of testing kits, cases were identified via clinical symptoms rather than laboratory confirmation. The ministry has since prepared the necessary laboratory facilities for further testing. The Jakarta Health Office reports that 84 percent of HIV patients, totaling 563 individuals, require intensive medical monitoring in hospitals or community health centers. Only 16 percent, or 95 cases, do not require such intensive care. Health officials noted that these complications increase the burden on local healthcare services. The ministry remains prepared to manage additional health complications that exacerbate patient conditions. Public health data from Jakarta indicates a hospitalization rate for HIV patients.
