China Reports 49 Percent Drop In Occupational Diseases
New data from the National Health Commission shows that new cases of occupational diseases in China fell by 49% during the 14th five-year plan period compared to the 13th. Health officials are now shifting focus toward protecting new employment types, including delivery drivers and ride-hailing workers. The initiative includes providing psychological counseling and medical services to workers nationwide. China's national occupational health literacy rate reached 48.1% in 2025, a 1.9 percentage point increase from 2024. Shen Hongbin, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission and Director of the China CDC, announced a shift toward all-round, full-cycle occupational health protection. This transition aims to address emerging hazards in new industries and business models.
