Doctors Without Borders Treats 600 Patients Daily In Iran
The World Health Organization has treated 6 patients and approximately 600 patients daily in Tehran, Mashhad, and Kerman since the start of the war on February 28. The organization confirmed the situation is difficult and the Iranian healthcare system is under pressure. A complete picture of the affected health infrastructure remains difficult to establish. Nearly 50 emergency stations have been damaged, though exact figures for the damage are not yet verified. The medical lead for the organization stated that access to supplies is complicated by over 40 years of sanctions. Recent airstrikes have also reportedly caused heavy damage or destruction to several pharmaceutical factories. An economic crisis since the beginning of the year has further hindered access to humanitarian aid.
