Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for North Texas

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Fort Worth, Texas, effective until 2:45 AM CDT on April 26. The storm system produced a possible tornado moving toward Azel before transitioning into a severe hail event. Large hail, sized between golf balls and tennis balls, was reported in Northwestern Tarrant County, including Fort Worth, Pelican Bay, Eagle Mountain Lake, and Lake Worth. Eastern Tarrant County, specifically areas along and south of Interstate 820 North, has recorded 2 to 4 inches of rainfall. A tornado watch previously in effect for Wise, Tarrant, Parker, and Palo Pinto counties has expired. The storm is expected to impact Lancaster, Red Oak, Wilmer, Ferris, and northern Ellis County including Palmer. Cloud-to-ground lightning has been reported near Aubrey, Pilot Point, Tioga, and Whitesboro.

A tornado watch remains in effect for much of North Texas, specifically east of Fort Worth and Decatur, until 5:00 AM. Flood warnings are active for Tarrant County and Southern Dallas County through approximately 4:00-5:00 AM. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches have already been recorded in these areas. The watch covers regions between Interstate 35 and Interstate 175.
