Wildfires Burn 85 Square Miles In Georgia
Wildfires have forced a state of emergency across 91 counties in Georgia, with two of the most significant fires currently active in the United States. Governor Brian Kemp reported that a volunteer firefighter died while battling a blaze in northern Florida. The fires are causing significant disruption to highways and local infrastructure. Two wildfires are currently threatening homes in the state of Georgia. Fire official John Josh Graham stated that both fires are only approximately 10% contained as of the latest update. Firefighters are focusing on structure protection and building containment lines to mitigate impact on residential areas. Rain that fell Sunday is helping officials gain an upper hand against two destructive wildfires in Southern Georgia. The fires have previously scorched thousands of acres and displaced many people.
