Ethiopia Activates Largest Dam In Africa

BBC World Service Addis Ababa 13d13d Impact 8
Ethiopia has recently activated the largest dam in Africa. The nation is Africa's second most populated country. The project provides access to hydropower for the region. Ethiopia is also selling surplus power to neighboring countries including Djibouti, Kenya, and South Sudan. Some distribution issues currently exist within the region. The surge in power prices is driving countries to reduce reliance on gas to mitigate price spikes. Governments are facing increased pressure to secure local gas supplies to manage these fluctuations. The facility is the largest dam on the African continent.
