Copernicus Report Confirms Record Global Temperatures
The Copernicus climate report states that 95 percent of Europe experienced above-average annual temperatures in 2025. The annual report notes the continent is increasingly impacted by melting ice. Parts of northern and eastern Europe, including the United Kingdom, Norway, and Iceland, have experienced their hottest year on record. Samantha Burgess, Deputy Director of the EU Copernicus program, stated that Europe's geography, with parts extending into the Arctic, causes it to warm faster than the rest of the world. For Ireland, Sweden, and Finland, this marks the second hottest year recorded. The report links these conditions to climate-triggered heat waves, wildfires, and droughts.
