Divers Find Nitrous Oxide Canisters In Calanques National Park

France Inter Marseille 13d10d Impact 5

Divers during a large-scale cleaning operation in the Marseille Calanques last weekend recovered approximately 20 nitrous oxide canisters. Freediver Karim Saari made the discovery in the protected natural site. The number of canisters recovered is lower than the approximately 40 found during the previous year's operation. Coastal cleanup associations report that 75% of nitrous oxide canisters sold are non-compliant, with half deemed dangerous. These metal canisters are causing pollution in public gardens, sidewalks, and protected marine areas. Specifically, canisters have been discovered in the Calanques near Marseille. The presence of these canisters is linked to health risks, driving accidents, and environmental damage. One canister was noted to have a small teddy bear attached to it.
