Climate Transition Conference Opens In Colombia
The first-ever international conference focused on transitioning away from fossil fuels commenced in Santa Marta, Colombia. Some participating countries are major oil and gas producers. The conference addresses climate change, noting that the last 11 years have been the hottest globally on record. The second day of the International Conference on Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels is taking place in Santa Marta, Colombia. The session is being reported via Radio France Internationale for Emisoras Unidas. The event brings together representatives from 56 countries to discuss strategies for the progressive abandonment of energy sources including oil, gas, and coal. Colombian President Gustavo Petro inaugurated the conference on the previous day. Special correspondent Najed Ben-Rabah is reporting from the location.
