Lisbon Conducts Large-Scale Electric Ship Repair Operation
Transdev transported 86 million people using an electric fleet in 2025. The company is currently conducting the world's largest decarbonization operation using electric ships in the Tagus River near Lisbon. Testing of infrastructure for ten ships is underway alongside studies for new pontoon construction to establish new routes. The operation involves testing the infrastructure for ten ships simultaneously with all charging loads. Studies are underway for the construction of new piers to establish new routes, including connections to Parque das Nações. This initiative is described as the largest operation of its kind involving electric vessels. The facility is repairing the first electric ship that arrived after an accident 14 months ago. The operation aims to eventually have 10 electric ships navigating simultaneously, with nine active vessels and one reserve.
