Severe Weather Causes Power Outages In Russia
A powerful cyclone caused damage across Moscow and the Samara region. The storm damaged 170 vehicles and left more than 70,000 people without power. Officials confirmed 33 people were injured, including three deaths, one of whom was a child. Central Russia experienced extreme weather including heavy snow and high winds during late April. The weather conditions caused emergencies across nearly every district and okrug in the central region. The storm intensity was described as being comparable to winter conditions despite being late in the season. Heavy rainfall and wind are impacting Russian agricultural production. The weather is expected to affect both the quantity and quality of the harvest. Wind speeds have reached high peaks, according to reports. Strong winds and heavy snow caused over 100 trees to fall in Moscow, according to the Moscow Housing and Communal Services Department.
