Frost Damage Threatens Ukrainian Fruit Orchards

April frosts have caused damage to fruit blossoms, with farmers assessing individual loss scales. In the Lutsk district, the Haiyenka farm has planted 46 hectares of young trees intended for mechanical harvesting. Farm manager Taras Terblyuk stated that there is a current threat to the crops due to the weather conditions. Agricultural manager Taras Terblyuk reports that temperatures dropping to minus 5 degrees Celsius have damaged fruit crops. While cherry and sweet cherry blossoms survived well, peach trees have been significantly affected. Approximately 80% of the apricot crop has been damaged by the frost. Frost has damaged peach, cherry, and cherry plum crops in Ukraine this year. Frost is specifically impacting peach, cherry, and sour cherry harvests, causing issues with crop holding and loading capabilities.
