Vietnamese Communities Pray for Rain Amid Drought
Amidst the peak of the dry season in the Central Highlands, the E.D. people in Bún Kỳ, Đắk Lắk province, are holding a rain prayer ceremony. This ritual expresses their hope for rain during the severe drought conditions. Residents of Đắk Lắk Province are performing rain-praying ceremonies. Villagers in traditional attire gathered in community houses to perform rituals. The ceremonies included prayers for rain and for the health of the village elder. Preparations for the lễ cúng, or offering ceremony, were completed. Communities in Vietnam are performing rituals and recreating agricultural activities as part of ceremonies. These events include prayers for health, luck, and peace, followed by demonstrations of rice cultivation and fishing. A simulated rain event was created during the ceremony, symbolizing a wish for favorable weather in the new harvest season.
