Mina de São Domingos Closed Without Environmental Remediation
The Mina de São Domingos mine was closed in the 1960s. No environmental recovery or remediation was undertaken at the time of closure. Patrícia Gomes is a researcher at the Institute of Earth Sciences at the University of Domingo. The focus is on the recovery and remediation of potentially toxic elements and rare earth elements. This remediation will be achieved through specific plants capable of purifying and withstanding extreme conditions. This approach also considers the possible remineralization of these elements.
