Heavy Rains Cause Flooding In Gaziantep
Heavy rainfall in Gaziantep caused rivers to overflow in the Gevence neighborhood. Five people were trapped in a house due to the flooding. AFAD teams, İtfaiye, TEDAŞ, and municipal teams were mobilized to the scene. Emergency teams from AFAD, the municipality, and TEDAŞ were deployed to the scene. Authorities reported no fatalities and stated that a few families were successfully evacuated by municipal teams. The Water and Irrigation Authority in Gaziantep began damage assessment operations on Monday morning. Approximately 400 flood-related cases have been reported in the region. Heavy rainfall continues to impact areas including Polu, Pakajak, Karanlik, and Simnel. Many agricultural lands in rural villages remain underwater following the disaster. Heavy rains in Gaziantep dropped 60 kilograms of rain per square meter within 20 minutes.
