Stormwater Upgrades Prevent Flooding In Illinois
Recent heavy rainfall of nearly four inches in Wheeling did not cause street or home flooding due to $9 million in stormwater infrastructure improvements. These upgrades include new sewers and a detention pond. In Mount Prospect, the levee system successfully protected homes and businesses during the river surge. In Mundelein, a new detention basin and drainage upgrades prevented flooding for hundreds of homes.
