Mexican Children Under Four Show Lead Poisoning Levels
A half-century after an outbreak of lead poisoning affected over 5,000 children and displaced 600 families in Szopienice, Poland, the country remains the largest emitter of lead in the European Union. The long-term health and environmental consequences of this industrial disaster continue to be felt. Sixteen percent of children under the age of four in Mexico have detectable levels of lead poisoning.
