Eels Die in Manawatū Lake Drying Event
An investigation is underway following the drying of Puke Puke Lake in the Manawatū region. Regional council staff discovered the situation two weeks ago. The Manawatū Regional Council has commissioned an independent investigation into the environmental cause. While volunteers rescued approximately 3,000 eels from the mud, hundreds of others died.
