Hailstorm Destroys Crops At South African Farm
A recent cold snap in the Poolsville area has caused catastrophic damage to local vineyards and orchards. At Windridge Vineyard, owner Robert Butts reported that grapes were left dead on the vine due to the freezing temperatures. The weather event has wiped out entire crops, impacting local agricultural production. Temperatures dropped below 30 degrees Fahrenheit for more than four hours during the event last Monday and Tuesday. The weather event follows a period of extreme temperature fluctuations in the region. A sudden hailstorm and heavy rain destroyed vegetable crops at a farm owned by Huang Fenghua in South Africa.
