Invasive Shrimp Species Threaten UK Fishing

developing BBC Radio 4 London 16d13d Impact 5
A new species of shrimp has been identified that threatens the food supply of fish in UK waters. Experts suggest the breakout could severely impact the national fishing landscape. The UK relies heavily on fish exports from its territorial waters. The arrival of this species poses a risk to the existing marine ecosystem. The Greenland Royal Fisheries Company reported that changing maritime conditions are forcing fishermen to adapt their methods. CEO Tobinzer noted that as traditional methods become obsolete, fishermen must find new ways to operate. There are concerns that if certain species become too numerous, vessel navigation could be hindered.
