Wildfires Threaten Homes In Southeastern Georgia

Two major wildfires have destroyed more than 120 homes in Georgia. No specific number of injuries or fatalities was immediately reported. The Highway 82 fire has been burning since Monday and has destroyed nearly 90 homes. A second fire near the Florida border has destroyed at least 35 homes. Both wildfires are currently only about 10 percent contained. Officials are urging increased security and monitoring of the affected areas. The combined destruction accounts for approximately 125 homes lost. No specific cause for the ignition of either fire was provided. As of April 24, 730 hectares are fully burned and 1,176 hectares are actively burning. 3,233 people across 1,541 households have been ordered to evacuate.
