Wildfires in northern and northeastern Thailand are contributing to urban smog in Bangkok. The combination of heat and smoke creates a 'smoky lid' over the city. This environmental condition increases health risks for individuals with heart and respiratory conditions. The smoke is attributed to both natural wildfires and man-made burning of organic waste. Extreme heat and smoke from agricultural waste burning are intensifying in Bangkok, Thailand. Last year, over 20 people died in the country due to extreme heat.
