US SNAP Enrollment Decreases By 3.5 Million

Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has decreased by nearly 3.5 million people since stricter eligibility requirements were implemented last summer. Arizona saw one of the largest declines, with recipient numbers falling by approximately 50%. More than 42 million people in the United States, including many children, received monthly SNAP benefits last year. The program cost approximately $100 billion last year, according to The Wall Street Journal.
