Three Million People Lose Federal Food Aid
Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has decreased by nearly 3.5 million people since stricter eligibility requirements were implemented last summer. A report from the Wall Street Journal indicates over 3 million people have lost federal food aid following the enactment of new government rules. Arizona experienced one of the largest decreases in the number of SNAP recipients. One of the largest decreases occurred in Arizona, where the number of people losing benefits has increased significantly.
