Stanley Black & Decker is laying off half of its workforce at a facility in New Britain, Connecticut. The company began the process by cutting 300 workers early this week. Additional layoffs are expected to continue through May 18th. The facility has been in operation since 1963 and employs many second or third-generation family members. The company provided laid-off employees with gold-plated tape measures as a parting gift. Many employees at the site are second or third-generation workers for the company.
