New Jersey Leaders Request FIFA World Cup Funding

Polskie Radio 3 East Rutherford 47d46d Impact 5
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy stated that FIFA has not allocated funds for transporting fans during the upcoming World Cup. The state will bear $48 million in costs related to hosting eight matches at MetLife Stadium. These expenses are being passed on to fans, with some reports indicating parking costs could reach $80 per match. The tournament final is scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium on July 19. FIFA expressed surprise at the New Jersey governor's approach to fan transportation. FIFA also thanked host cities for offering low, stable public transport rates for matches. New Jersey representatives Nellie Poe, Rob Menendez, Jerry Nadler, and Dan Goldman sent a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Wednesday. NJ Transit is currently charging $150 for round-trip train tickets and $80 for shuttle bus tickets to the games.
