Cook County Faces Property Tax Bill And Refund Backlog
An investigation by the Illinois Answers Project revealed ongoing technical issues with Cook County property tax administration. Approximately 4,000 bills were mailed on Friday, leaving a backlog of more than 7,000 bills yet to be sent. Thousands of homeowners are still awaiting both tax bills and potential refunds. Additionally, there is a backlog of about 91,000 refunds totaling approximately $200 million.
