Shanghai Shipyard Increases Cruise Ship Localization Rate
Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company is advancing the construction of a cruise ship final assembly base following a new memorandum of understanding. General Manager Chen Gang stated that the localization rate of the domestic cruise ship supply chain has increased from less than 30% during the first vessel to 35%. The shipyard aims to continue achieving domestic substitution in the cruise ship construction field while promoting digital transformation of the industry and supply chains. The head of the cruise ship project department, Wei Shen, stated that AI technology integration has increased production capacity by 25%. Hou Bing, deputy leader of the Party Preparatory Group of the China Tourism Group, stated that cruise ship production must continuously achieve localization and domestic production.
