Synthetic Rubber Import Prices Surge 40 Percent
The CEO of Total Energy stated that crude oil prices are expected to reach at least $80 per barrel in 2026 under all scenarios. Energy giant Total announced a net profit of nearly 6 billion dollars for the first quarter. Some critics have accused the French group of profiting from the current crisis and have called for taxes on super profits. A spokesperson for the company stated they are not ruling anything out. The results are linked to the surge in oil prices since the start of the war in the Middle East. Government officials Maud Brejant and Emmanuel Macron have called for reflection on responses to rising fuel costs amid high uncertainty. This high utilization rate improved profitability during the transformation of crude oil into gasoline and kerosene. Total Energy reported 5 billion euros in profits for the first quarter, representing a 51 percent increase year-on-year.
