Only One Third Of Storm Aid Requests Approved
Economy Minister Manuel Castrolmãe stated that two out of every three people who requested disaster aid have not yet received any assistance. The Minister is coordinating the PTRR program presented by the Prime Minister. The statement was made during an appearance on ERTP. Approximately 33,000 requests for support have been made, but many remain unserved because applications must be evaluated by municipal chambers. Funds have been available at the CCDR level for some time following the disaster. Minister of Territorial Cohesion Castro Almeida confirmed that only one in three approved state aid requests for storm victims have received funds. There are 20,000 total aid requests pending. Almeida attributed the delays to limited technical capacity within local municipalities.
