China Reduces Oil Import Reliance Via Hormuz Strait

CRI News Radio Beijing 17d14d Impact 5
China is implementing a strategy to steadily decrease the proportion of oil in its energy structure to mitigate fossil fuel price volatility. The country has achieved an electricity share of approximately 30% in its final energy consumption, a level higher than both the United States and Europe. This shift is supported by large-scale investments in solar energy, wind power, and electric vehicles. China currently obtains approximately 40 to 45 percent of its oil needs through the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, about 30 percent of its energy needs come from gas via this route.
