US Becomes World's Largest Oil Exporter
The United States has become the world's primary producer and exporter of energy over the last ten years. While the U.S. remains a major global consumer, it has significantly increased its export volumes. The shift is expected to reduce the probability of supply shocks in Europe in the coming weeks. Markets are currently preparing for potential fluctuations in oil flows through May and June. This shift follows a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz which has impacted global oil supplies. Buyers from Asia and other regions are turning to U.S. supplies to replace Gulf oil. Project Freedom is currently an effort to free stranded ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Over 250 million barrels of oil were exported from the US in the last nine weeks. American producers are reportedly struggling to increase production levels fast enough to keep pace, according to the report.
